MEMBERSHIP

Central Office of the Ramblers, having updated and reviewed their new computerised membership programme, inform us that Group membership has held steady throughout the year, hovering between 470 and 506.

WALKS PROGRAMME

Once again we have had a varied selection of walks within a 30 mile radius of Ipswich. There were 106 walks, ranging from 3 to 13 miles and if you went on all of them, you would have covered 745 miles! Hopefully all of you found some that suited your needs. Grateful thanks are extended to all those who lead walks and also to those who support them, regardless of the weather.

SOCIAL EVENTS

It is always pleasing to see good support for the Soup Lunch walks, including old friends who feel that they are no longer able to do the longer walks. Once again this year we held one at Melton in the spring and one in the autumn at Kirton. A number of our members also joined the villagers of Shotley at their Soup Lunch after one of our walks in that area. Sincere thanks to those members who did the organisation and provided the excellent fare.

GENERAL

The Area AGM this year will be hosted by the Alde Valley Group at Sizewell Sports & Social Club. Full details are in the latest edition of Area News. A new Secretary and Treasurer are being sought to replace long serving members who are retiring.

A number of our group members supported the Ramblers led meeting in Rendlesham Forest to oppose the selling off of our forests.
