Apart from the introduction on the home page, there are a few things you may like to know about the Ipswich & District Ramblers.
The Group membership area covers the south east of Suffolk from the
Stour estuary to Woodbridge, including Felixstowe and Ipswich, but
walks take place over a much wider area.We have around 600 members.
The club is run by a small band of volunteers listed on the contacts
page.
Our constitution has recently been approved and you can see it here. Our walks tend to be mainly on
Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursday and
weekends. The Group publishes two programmes a year, with half-day
walks of 5 to 7 miles and all day outings of 8 to 15 miles with a
picnic lunch and/or pub stop.
During the summer there are also evening
walks of about 4 to 5 miles. Occasionally, there are social events and
long weekend walks in other areas. You can find all our upcoming walks
listed in our walks programme.
Our walks are open to all members and non-members who are always
welcome
to
join us for a few tasters before deciding to join the Ramblers. General
information on walking with us may
be found on the Walk with us and FAQs links.
Local Authorities consult the Group on footpath matters and it
regularly represents the walking fraternity at Public Enquiries and
also on other bodies.
We also work
to protect and maintain local footpaths and we have an active footpath
committee
